The Bermuda International Business Association (BIBA) has elected Vicki Coelho as chairman at the meeting of the board of directors, with effect from the start of this year.
Ms Coelho, who is general manager of North Rock Communications, will work in support of BIBA’s chief executive officer Cheryl Packwood to develop strategies to grow international business in Bermuda and enhance the Association’s role on the Island.
In her role at North Rock, Ms. Coelho is responsible for the development and execution of North Rock’s overall business plan.
Her career included 13 years in sales and marketing at Xerox Canada, prior to coming to Bermuda in 1995 and she joined North Rock in 1998.
Since then she has worked in sales and marketing in the IT and telecommunications sector.
Ms Packwood said: “We are excited to have Vicki serve in this capacity on our board and to provide additional leadership as we focus on growing international business for Bermuda and cementing our role as the leading organisation for the international business community in Bermuda.
“Anyone who knows Vicki respects her for her success in leading at North Rock Communications. She rolls up her sleeves, focuses on the tasks at hand and gets them done.
“She has practical experience, sound judgment and a good understanding of international business – both the challenges and the opportunities.
“On a personal note, I have been very appreciative of Vicki’s tremendous support over the past two years of not only the Association, but of me. I look forward to working closely with Vicki over the next two years.”
Ms Coelho said: “I have been honoured to serve on the board of the Bermuda International Business Association with many of the leading business executives in Bermuda.
“I appreciate their confidence in me to take on this role. Our association has proven that it is an excellent steward of both international business and the government’s financial resources in the growth in awareness of international business both at home and abroad.
“I look forward to working with Cheryl and her team as we seize the opportunities for continued growth in international business and meet the challenges both known and unknown in the global economy.”
